Expressive

Expressive art takes many forms. One of its forms is art that heals, which, unlike "art for art's sake", does not have perfection of technique as its goal. Technique and craft are vehicles for gaining an experience that brings insight, understanding, peace and wholeness to the artist and viewer. Wholeness results in health. Etymologically "health" and "whole" are related. The Middle English word "hool" is the root of both words. Art that heals makes "hool".
Expressive art is quite individual in its choice of materials. Collage and multi-media are popular, since expressions often bridges traditional 2-D and 3-D formats. Garrett's expressive art uses collage, digital and book art as mediums. She focuses her art on spirit. It can be representative or abstract, but Garrett's work tends towards the figurative. Garrett also uses the sacred art of mandalas, with black Canson paper and prismacolor pencils. Garrett uses mandalas solely with the intention of transformation, gaining insight, balancing mind and body, healing spiritually, and expanding spheres of love. She offers workshops in the mandala process. See www.mandala-lotus.com for detailed information on her training as a mandala facilitator for spiritual and emotional healing.
